May 21, 2020

As May 21st comes around each year, we are reminded of the birthday of Chris Benoit, one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, who's legacy will be haunted by the traumatic suicide that ended his life. While the exact things running through his mind will never be known, it's clear now that he was dealing with issues like depression and suffering from CTE (a concussion-related illness). These issues and others like them are matters that can affect all of us. Whether it is bullying, COVID related issues, or depression, the things that can get us down are numerous. The world can be a dark place sometimes, but it's how we shine a light onto that darkness that makes the difference.

And so on Benoit's birthday, we are reminded what a gift life truly is and with that, the Goldy lockS Band has begun to release their long-awaited project, All To You. A song and ambitious video project over a year in the making, they could think of no more appropriate time of year to bring forth their message of hope. With frontwoman Goldy a former wrestling personality, and the video starring some of the biggest names in the sports entertainment & the entertainment industry, it was a natural fit.

Since her stint on TNA IMPACT Wrestling, Goldy has performed as one of the hardest working rock bands in the nation and been a frequent guest star on shows ranging from CBS’s The Talk, TLC’s Cheapskates to CMT’s Running Wild with Ted Nugent. One day though she felt compelled to write All To You, a song steeped in the Christian values of her upbringing. "I felt a spirit move through me when I started to write this. As if Jesus came back in modern-day with a message of self-worth, kindness, and acceptance. I felt him tell me to tell his story."

The song is based on the classic story of ‘Footprints in the Sand’ merged with one of Goldy’s favorite books from her childhood “The Giving Tree’ by Shel Silverstein. In word and in video it seeks to show people that they are not alone, and that suicide is never the answer. Through video, they show the many ways people take their own lives, be it by drug overdose, by staying in abusive relationships, or at their own hand. They also highlight the many reasons why people feel that it may be the only option. PTSD, depression, bullying/cyberbullying, the loss of a loved one, these are all real issues that millions struggle with, often alone because they are too afraid to reach out.

In these times of quarantine and COVID-19, many people feel more alone than ever. The loss of loved ones, people out of work, or even just the stress of stay at home orders, it all weighs people down. But this video shows that together, we can build a better world for each other following the example of Christ's sacrifice.

In much the same way that Benoit's surviving son, David, is seeking to start a career wrestling under his father's name, this project wants to show the long term effects such tragic events. Just as David Benoit is trying to take his father's legacy and try to turn it into a positive that can help others, this project wants to start a conversation and highlight those that are left behind and struggling to deal with the aftermath. Its sometimes harsh, and biting, but the real truths that underlie it carry a message of hope that they pray will be able to help others who are struggling.

To make this enterprising project come to life the band reached out to and called upon the strengths of a number of people. WWE's Vince Russo, one of the most controversial figures in professional wrestling has gotten back in the ring to bring attention to this important issue, initially hosting the video on his channel. To do the filming they brought in Israel Garcia of Bad Iguana Productions. To star in the video a who’s who of music and wrestling stars stepped up for this important cause. Bobby Capps (38 Special), Chris Henderson (3 Doors Down), Claudette King (The Blues Queen, Daughter of BB King), Revelation 1531 (Cousin of Tupac Shakur), James Storm (WWE /TNA), Mayra Dias Gomes (Best Selling Author, Professional Wrestler NWA), Adrianna Foster (The Voice/La Voz), Chase Stevens (WWE/TNA), Allen Funk (WCW/TNA), Rod Saylor, Suzan Bee Anthony, Sheyla Paz Hicks, Jessica Henderson, Michael Richardson, Sydney Fyke, Chris Murray, Joshua Sendish, Desmond Lane, Jamiah Bass, Ginger Ecton & Lylah Garcia have all taken part of this video.

Storm’s performance is of special note. His portrayal of a Christlike figure meant to help show that Christ gave his life for us so that we should never have to follow in those footsteps.

After this project was signed to Nashville's MC1 Nashville, both band and artist decided to have a huge nod to American rapper Logic's 800-273-8255 video. Like the creator and stars of that song and video, this band and label are dedicated to making change.  Logic, Alessia Cara, and Khalid all helped increase awareness and calls to The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline 800-273-8255. The Goldy lockS Band is committed to following in those "Footprints In The Sand."

The Goldy lockS Band, helmed by rocker, former pro wrestler and singer Goldy Locks, premieres its new music video for their song "Black" exclusively on Digital Journal.

"Black" is by Smith and Hay, and it features the Goldy lockS Band. Most impressive about this Pearl Jam cover tune is that it is meant to bring awareness to the epidemic of child abuse.

What makes the video even more compelling is that they include the phone number of the national child abuse hotline towards the end of the music video (1-800-4-A-Child).

This is the first single from the Billboard charting album Jazz Part Two by Smith and Hay x DJ King Tech. This album has been on the Jazz Charts for 17 weeks straight, peaking at No. 2; moreover, it went to No. 1 on the Billboard contemporary chart.

"Child abuse needs to become a top priority in America," Goldy Locks underscored. "These precious souls with no voice grow up wondering what they did wrong. My father, a parole officer of 30 years dealing daily with killers and sex offenders, pounded into my head that by the time a child is seven years old they pretty much are who they will be."

"Depending on their intelligence it can be as early as three or four years old," Goldy Locks said. "If you look at the problems in the world something went wrong at an early age with human beings causing them. May this video serve as a way to start a conversation to be more aware of the children around us," she elaborated.

"So many need help. Our band decided to do this video as a Public service announcement (PSA) and take a more raw and real approach to what we can do with our voice," she concluded.

THE GOLDY LOCKS BAND

It is natural in the life of a band for it to change as time passes. Members come and go, styles morph, and attitudes evolve. For most, it is devolution, for a lucky few, an improvement. Far more rarely though is the band that has everything fall into place so perfectly that they become the epitome of what they set out to do. Goldy lockS is one of those rare, blessed exceptions. Taking four already successful artists and meshing them together in this fun and wild group, they are perfectly positioned to set the world ablaze with their talent.

From an early origin in the hard rock music scene, this band has become a perfect storm of blending musical styles. Each member brings their own impeccable accent to the others, allowing them to thread their music together into a whole that is stronger and more skilled. Fusing rock and pop, jazz, and metal, into a smooth brew with a powerful kick they are sure to bring something to the table for everyone.

Founder and lead vocalist Goldy is no stranger to the stage. Getting her start as a chicken commercial star as a young child, as she grew older she became a teen-pop sensation sharing the stage with the likes of Pink, and charting in multiple countries. She then transitioned to being a personality on TNA Wrestling, interviewing and managing some of the biggest names in the business. She has since been on a number of shows, from Running Wild with Ted Nugent, to TLC's Extreme Cheapskates, all while producing and directing her own web-series Goldy Knows. Her first love has always been music, however, and she could not stay away from the stage for long. A classically trained vocalist, she can sing in three languages while dominating a room with her awe-inspiring stage presence. A true Hard Rock Woman, she brings an edge to the shows, while charming the crowds with her signature self-deprecating humor.

The next ingredient thrown in the mix is the unmistakable Johnny Oro. This guitarist graduated from Musician’s Institute out in good old Hollywood California. MI has such notable alumni as Marty Friedman of Megadeth and Chad Smith from Red Hot Chili Peppers to name a few.  He’s played everywhere but secured his entertainment chops with the Goldy lockS Band able to shred with the best of them he can be found prowling stage right, using his artistry to shock and amaze. Combining style with substance, this rocking guitarist is sure to impress.

The final member is the ever-mohawked Rod Saylor. Bringing a touch of heavy metal with his frenetic drumming, he is the hard steel backbone of the band. Having learned his craft from the widely respected Joey Eberline he has played with bands all across the US, rocking faces all the while. So often the drummer is barely noticed by the crowd, his stage presence subsumed by everything going on around him. Not so with Rod, who makes his presence known, both by the skill he has with his craft, but also with his powerful bearing.

It is inevitable that when you get so many successful, quality members together that great things are going to happen. They have shared the stage with bands like: Saliva, Sevendust, Nickelback, 3 Doors Down, Puddle of Mudd, Hurt, Theory Of A Deadman, Collective Soul, Stevie Nicks, Bret Michaels Band, Rick Springfield, Ted Nugent, Pat Benatar, Maroon 5, and Grand Funk Railroad. They have worked with such legendary producers as Michael Wagener, Michael Patterson, and Dale Oliver.

From 2008 to the present the band has sold over 65,000 CDs and Eps, as well as over 2500 DVDs. Their current single Today I Won't Be Afraid has been licensed by numerous national and worldwide charities. Their previous single, Sometimes, by 2007 was playing on over 120 internet and terrestrial stations.

How did they get to this level of success? By being a band that is focused on writing strong, exceptional songs. By putting on the best bang for your buck show in the U.S. By letting their inspiring energy infect each other and the crowd. It’s clear how close-knit they are, constantly operating with amazing synergy, and pushing each other to be as exceptional as they know they can be. And it shows, leaving us all the richer for the experience.
